On last sarurday a bunch of the closest people i and my family knew came to my house for a small raya do. Who knew a "small" raya do would take up a lot of energy in the process of eecuting the plan.
Day 1 ( a day before the do)
Mom and i decided to do a little damage control on our wall downstairs. We had to sandpaper the wall to smoothen the surface then painted it. So we did. We finished at about 7.30-ish and then we did our prayers then we had our dinner. That night i got so excited about dyeing my hair. The original plan was to have Aida A and Liyana to do it for me...But thanks to my itchy fingers, i now have an alienated blob of copper coloured hair at the back of my head. Yeah, it's uneven. We even managed to whip up two whole chocolate cakes.
Day 2 ( The day of the do)
My family and i woke up a little early in the morning. Well actually i woke up at 9. Mom and dad woke up a little bit more earlier to buy the freshest chickens, freshest herbs, freshest whatever else we needed to for the dishes. So by 10, I had to start chopping the ingredients...Tofu, Tempe, carrots, chives, and what not. There were a lot of things that needed to be diced, sliced, choped, and what have you. By 2 pm, my bached had ached due to my bad posture. My butt was numb for sitting for hours at the same spot. I got myself a shower after my chores were done, and by 4.30 pm the first guests started to arrive. By the way, we cooked up Lontong, Soto, Gado- gado...The rendang we got from our neighbour. What nice people they are. hahaha.
The evening session were my mom's and dad's close friends session to makan and criticize the government, the aviation industry and laugh about silly things. It was my shift to take care of washing the dishes, making sure there were enough spoons, forks and glasses, drinks and food refills. Well, it was supposed to be me and my sister...but as usual, i'd be the one doing the job and she'll be the little princess asking me to do things "right". Garr. Dont get me wrong... i do still love her....but sometimes i just feel like killing her. Old people are just naturally nosy. It'd be a sin to NOT know about your college, which college, which course, boyfriends, friends, weight....Man.
The Night session was meant for my sister's and my closest friends. Now it was my parents' turn to wash the dishes, and yada yada yada. Fisrt guess was of course, Dee. Too bad she was sick that night. The poor woman couldn't taste anything even the rendang which had promised a burst of flavour! Then the others from college came around the same time...Macam dah plan. One reach, all oso reach same time. Shadz came with Hanzy...and what a coincidence, their dad grew up in brickfields...like my dad. Well we wouldn't have known if my dad and mom hadn't lepaked with them. Well, Dwi and kaling seranaded us with their piano power...and my sister and her friends went ga-ga over him. AHHA. hilarous. Cute, but hilarious. Not to mention disturbing. We (college mates) laughed the night away like mad people...deciding whether Brazil is in Peru or Brazil is in Europe. I wonder what goes on in their brains. After generous rounds of refilling their plates, it was time for their departure. everybody left at once...so it was like an eerie silence after that. Haha. No it wasn't a compliment to any of u guys.
Day 3 (Post raya do)
Technically its the 3rd day la. Super early 3rd day. My family and i cleaned up the house until about 12.30 am. My parents were super exhausted, that they just fell asleep on the floor of the living room. My sister and i slept in their room so that we could watch tv before we doze off. The next morning, i woke up at 9. I was surprised i could even wake up that early after what i did the night before. Anyway...we continued cleaning up the house that afternoon. right up till that evening. Sigh. Finally everything's clean again.
