Of cousins and Baybeats.
What a way to end my holiday. With a bang.
My family and i had a short weekend trip to singpore. I know it may not seem much, but i had a fab time.
Sometimes (most times) plans just dont seem to go as it should be. Whether its good or not, it doesn't matter. The point here is, they just never do happen as we planned. Anyhoo, i had planned for me and my cousins (of all which are around the same age group as me) on tuesday, to dine out on saturday night. I had envisioned someplace nice and quaint, with good music and good food. So my cousin Marwan said, "I know this turkish place along Jalan Sultan,". I said, "Sounds awesome!".
Come Friday, we usually gather a my grandad's place in Bedok South. Then, Rashid and Marwan said, "Baybeats! Tomorrow at the esplanade!". I say, "Oh my god! That's awesome too! Who's performing?". They said, " Dunno, we'll go check."
Fine.
The next morning, i was enthusiastically executing what i thought was the best plan ever. To go paint the streets of Bugis and Orchards red. I took my sister along to shop our poskets dry. As we came out to the streets, shouting "Show me what you've got, Great Singapore Sale!", we got no reply, but only to hear the sounds to crickets chittering.
However, we still did a bit of shopping to satisfy our retail cravings. Come evening, we were supposed to meet the cousins i had made the original plan with. We did meet up, but other cousins suddenly popped out of nowhere to join us. So from a four people affair became to an eleven people affair. I was...shocked. Astounded. Speechless. Where did all these ribena kiddies come from?!
Oh well, afterall, we're all related anyway. Right? That's the whole jing bang gang, who else would come some more? That's all of us...
Aparently NOT.
You see, just after we were enjoying the good music by KL based band called Furniture, at the Baybeats, suddenly my aunt and uncle popped out of nowhere too. I'm beginning to think that my family might be related to Mary Poppins. Okay, it wasn't so bad having them along...'cause we got treated to dinner! Hahahaha.
Baybeats is like an alternative music festival held anually at the Esplanade, in Singapore. It has a pretty cool setting and layout by the bay. The Esplanade looks almost like two durians (Or so they claim). But it looks more like a pair of fly's eyes to me! It's probably the Singaporean "Sydney Opera House". Hah. Macam-macam.
It was a truly nice experience to simply enjoy to the chillout music by Furniture...with the Raffkes hotel in the background, the water gushing out of the Merlion's mouth...and the city lights appeared to be like fairy lights from a distance. To make things more "chilling out", the breeze last night was fantastic. I could even smell salt in the air as the wind blows. Ahh, Bliss.
The cousins were trying to persuade me to travel down south again in August for another music fest. Well, they'd persuade me to come down more often for almost any reason...like, "Sini makan sedap" or something. Haha. But seriously. Mogwai will be there this August as well. Argh! But college is starting soon. More like tomorrow, officially.
Oh well. Maybe i should worry about that trip later. For the last trip, it was fun while it lasted.
