O f I r a m a d a n L a g u !

Some people watch movies purely for entertainment purposes only. These people appreciate the actors, the the soundtracks, the humour, the cinematography...everything of its aesthetic beauty.

Some watch movies with an analytical mind. These people appreciate as to why certain actors were payed to carry certain characters. They listen to the script read out by the actors while trying to read between the lines for symbolisms, irony, smilies, and stuff like that. Then they appreciate how nicely the soundtracks have been tied together with the movie. They never miss a detail of the scenes. Like how the colours of the skies may resemble how gloomy the persona is. They listen out for the message of the show. By the end of the movie, one would have reflected the movie upon his or her life, and somehow take the message as a lesson.

I, as i would like to believe, am the audience of the latter.

I enjoy taking notice of the finer details that nobody else does. I'd watch the "Bujang Lapok" over and over again, because i truly feel that those movies were produced way ahead of their time. The amount of noble messages that P Ramlee was trying to pass on to his viewers (at that time, they were the Suburban/Urban Malay people of Malaya). And, of course...not many of my friends get why i love the movie so much hoho.

By the way, P Ramlee once sang "Tak mungkin Hilang, Irama dan Lagu..." in the sixties. And now, Hollywood came out with "Music and Lyrics". And the whole movie is about how a melody is not complete when it doesn't have words to accompany it. Hahaha. See? He was ahead of his time!

However, i do appreciate the aesthetic beauties of the makings of a movie, afterall.

For example, Hugh Grant is dashing, dashing, dashing. Grr! Thank the heavens he broke up with Jemima Khan. He never looked good with Jemima, anyway.
